Why have a baby website?

Our baby websites are a great idea for all parents because they let you share your precious memories from pregnancy to birth and beyond with your family and friends. Keep those you love up to date with your growing baby.

This is your chance to let your loved ones around the country and the world view admire your new baby. Or, you may like the convenience of instead of emailing large attachments or carrying around a heavy photo album, simply telling family and friends where to go to see all the latest pictures and information.

To do this is easy. You can have your own personal website named after your baby, for example www.fred.jones.name.

How much and what do I get?

For a limited time after release of the Gold Coast Bulletin's free Baby Album 2003 (out Tuesday January 27, 2004), BabyWeb sites will be sold at the specially reduced prices below!

There are three aspects to the price:

1. Site design and creation

The price for the Essentials & Elite packages covers:

Consultation via email or phone
A home page for Baby
Secondary pages for more photos of Baby, relatives, etc.
Guest book, providing a great way to communicate with family and friends and a way to record their kind words.

The Essentials package home page and secondary pages comprise:

Welcome page:
This is the first page your loved ones will view. It includes your personalised message and a photo either of yourself or your baby.
Pre-birth photos:
This page includes up to 8 photos of your pregnancy, ultrasounds, or other happy snaps relating to the upcoming baby.
Birth and first few weeks photos:
This page includes up to 12 photos of your newborn with captions. Choose the cutest photos, photos with friends and relatives, hospital gifts, etc.
Later stage photos:
As you capture pictures of Baby at various stages of growth, add them here (up to 10)

The Elite package home page and secondary pages comprise:

Welcome page:
This is the first page your loved ones will view. It includes your personalised message and description of Baby's birth, a large photo either of yourself or your baby, plus 6 smaller photos.
About page:
Chronicle baby's development.
Photos pages:
Five sections of up to 7 photos each, for pre-birth, 0-6 months, 7-12 months, family and holidays.
"The Folks" page:
Information on the proud parents, from baby's point of view; or even a brief family tree.

2. Register web site name and set up domain hosting

With the "Essentials" and "Elite" packages, we will host your site for one year from date of purchase, with an address of the form:

www.mybabyweb.info/jamesjones

There are no extra fees, but after one year the site will disappear (you can however keep a copy yourself on your own computer or a CD by downloading it before then) – even re-upload it later (provided copyright notices and a link to www.mybabyweb.info are included).

The "Forever" packages provide the same design as the base packages, plus your baby's own domain name of the form james.jones.name or jamesjones.info (depending on availability and your personal preferences), prepaid for two years, and site hosting for one year. The domains include a portable email address that your baby can keep for life, of the form james@jones.name or james@jamesjones.info.

To retain the domain and site after that, you will have continuing expenses for the "Forever" package of $34 every two years for the domain, and $120 per year for the hosting (at current rates), payable to the hosting company. Your child will have his or her own web site for as long as you like, and you or they will be able to modify it (using standard web authoring tools).

Note: your first choice domain name may not be available; decisions will be made in consultation with you.

3. Ongoing site maintenance

$Zero! You are provided with the tools to maintain your web site.

Of course if you choose to acquire domain hosting specially for the site, you will have annual hosting fees from the service provider.

What do I need to provide?

OK, so you like the idea! You will need to fill out the online order form, and for the actual site content you will need to provide all photos and accompanying text. Preferably this should be emailed; however if you don't have them in digital format, for an extra $50 you can post your printed photos to us to scan: please include stamped self-addressed envelope if you wish them returned.
